The Terry Sims Band

"I Believe In Music"
The enduring success of The Terry Sims Band is one of the great stories of Milwaukee music. During the past few years, they have forged a sound as a local phenomenon on their own terms. The band formed in 2002, now celebrates positive vibes and undiluted jazz funk in 2008. During these times, keyboardist, composer and arranger Terry Sims has been the aural architect of the band.
After a brief foray into R&B within the local scene, many of the core of the band arrived from separate paths. James Dallas joined the team as a writer/successfully recording 3 solo cd's. Kenny Garrett/Bass also joined as a writer and a sponsored bassist, with drummer Olen Franklin and John Moss/guitar, bringing similar independent styles helping to develop a sound that is unique in the level of originality & quality. The two newest members are Tim Kirschenmann on sax & Jeanne Hudon on vocals, which improves the range of the band from a high energy show (Jazz in the Park/Milwaukee,Wi)- to the smooth stylings of a more intimate atmosphere (Piano Blu/Pewaukee,Wi). Playing modern, infectious grooves fringed with latin, funk, smooth jazz and jazz, buoyed by traces of R&B, rock and top 40, the members of the band are inspired by this hybrid of R&B and jazz which they call “The Milwaukee Sound,”. The Terry Sims Band has traveled & opened some great venues in and out of the Midwest, with two successful studio albums and an opening for Earth, Wind & Fire at Summerfest 08. The band enjoys great support collaborating with some of the best local musicians in the area (Mike DeRose, G. Womack, John Johnson, Reggie Bordeaux, Andre Torrence to name a few), The Terry Sims Band is one of the great stories of Milwaukee music.
